It’s that time of year again and after much nagging from your little one throughout the year, you’ve finally given in agreed to throw a birthday party, even though it only seems like a few weeks since their last birthday! With the economic downturn, money is tight but at the end of the day as a loving parent you don’t want to let your kids down or disappoint them, after all they are so young they don’t yet understand the value of money and all they want to do is have fun. Sounds all too familiar doesn’t it?
If you feel you can relate to this, here are a few tips on how to throw a party and make your child happy without putting yourself through loads of stress with a huge dent in your pocket:
Plan out your budget:
Yes of course this is obvious, but it’s often the thing people don’t do properly. Make a list and write down every potential cost. This way you won’t miss something important like Party Bags which often gets left to the end as a last minute thought which could end up costing more as you go into panic buying mode!
Share your party:
Well why not? If you don’t mind the idea and your child wouldn’t mind, don’t be scared to ask school parents or friends if they would like to team up with you. Chances are they were probably thinking the same as you. If a child’s birthday is within the same month as your child, sharing a party is a sure way to reduce costs. It helps to share the work load and preparations too.
Allow enough time to prepare for the party:
Another thing many parent’s don’t do due to lack of time. Buying things last minute like party supplies especially online results in having to spend more on a faster delivery service.
Not allowing enough time for parent’s to RSVP and to chase replies results in last minute add ons, hence more expense. Try and avoid over spending and wastage by knowing your party numbers in advance of shopping for the party.
By allowing enough time for party shopping, you can ensure you get the best deals too.
It’s the way you do it:
Think this old Bananarama song springs to mind, “It ain’t what you do it’s the way that you do it… and that’s what gets results!
To a young child, even a small DIY party at home will be the best party ever! Kids are easily pleased, well most anyway!
It’s all about imagination and creativity, coming up with ideas to entertain kids for a couple of hours, creating exciting party bags that look a lot more expensive than they cost.
Again this does all stem down to careful planning, but it’s all worth it in the end when you see a huge smile on your child’s face that day!
